How to Fix Error 15106 in QuickBooks?

One of the common payroll problems encountered is QuickBooks error 15106. If you are in possession of an active QuickBooks Desktop Payroll subscription and you are trying to download QuickBooks Desktop updates, you may receive this error with the following message: “Update program can’t be opened. Update program is damaged.”

  • There are chances of Spy Sweeper being present in the software of Webroot antivirus software.
  • Probably user may not be logged in as the computer administrator which could restrict user's ability to read or write new files.

  • Many times the Spy Sweeper could be the cause of the trouble. Users must check for its presence in their systems. For that, the user should open Windows Task Manager by pressing the keys Ctrl+Shift+Esc. After that, the user has to go on to the processes tab and search for Spy Sweeper.exe. The spy sweeper file after being found should be removed or uninstalled.
  • Supposing the user could not find the Spy Sweeper in the computer system, the user needs to open drive C and navigate to " C: Program FilesCommon FilesIntuitQuickBooksxxComponents”. Then the user has to reset the QuickBooks update, by renaming “Downloadqb <nn> folder as Downloadqb<nn>.old”. This process most definitely might bound to resolve the user's issues.
